The festive season was ushered in with the annual Christmas concert at AHEPA Greek School at the packed auditorium of Ivanhoe Girls Grammar, the event was a resounding success, bringing together students, parents, grandparents, and friends of the school to celebrate the year’s achievements.
The celebration began with a warm welcome from Mrs Tasia Manou, a member of the School Committee, who spoke about the invaluable work being done at the school and expressed gratitude to the parents for their continued trust and support. Mrs Stella Lambrou, the school principal, highlighted the accomplishments of the year and underscored the critical role Greek schools play in preserving language and culture.
She also praised the significant contributions of AHEPA Greek School to the Greek Diaspora in Melbourne. The concert featured a variety of performances that showcased the talent of the students, with each grade presenting a unique theme.
The younger students (Preps and Grade 2) performed plays and songs about Santa, while Grade 1 presented a play on the Four Seasons. Grades 3 and 4 brought the Gods of Olympus to life, while Grades 5 and 6 performed a play about the Olympic Games. The Secondary students captivated the audience with a performance on the Dances of the Caryatides. The students brought their roles to life with enthusiasm, emotion, and skill, impressing the audience with their acting and singing talents. The concert also featured an array of traditional Greek dances, choreographed by dance teacher Sotiris Sotiriou.

Pre-primary: Omal – Pontos
First grade: Sirtos in three, Menousis – Epirus
Second grade: Karakianitikos – Kerkyra
Third grade: Samiotikos – Dodecanese
Fourth grade: Podaraki and Zervos – Thace
Fifth grade: Kalamatianos, Tsamikos – Peloponnese
High School: Ta Xyla and Antikristos – Mytilini
The celebration concluded with traditional Christmas songs and the National Anthems, leaving everyone in high spirits. The audience expressed their admiration for the students’ performances and offered warm congratulations to the dedicated teaching staff and assistants for their love and care in supporting the students throughout the year.
