Brisbane Roar have signed Young Socceroos forward Nathan Amanatidis on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Amanatidis joins Roar from Sydney FC where he made 14 A-League appearances, scoring one goal in the AFC Champions League this season.
The 19-year-old can play as a winger or up-front and came from Adelaide United’s youth system before making the switch to the Sky Blues.
He made a name for himself early with his performances for the Joeys at the 2023 AFC U17 Asian Cup where he kicked two goals and had one assist.
Amanatidis was called up to the Young Socceroos for the 2024 Panda Cup in November, a tournament which Australia won after going through undefeated.
“I’m thrilled to be signing with a fantastic club like Brisbane, known for its rich history in the A-League,” Amanatidis said in a club announcement.
“I’m eager to create something special with the club and it’s fans and I can’t wait to work alongside this talented team and coach.
“One of my main goals is to secure a spot in the starting eleven, contributing with as many goals and assists as possible, while also helping the team achieve as many victories as we can, as we aim to compete for silverware.
“Beyond my time with the Roar, I have a long-term aspiration to represent the Socceroos. It means a lot to me that the club and Ruben recognize my potential and have faith in me.
“I’m looking forward to jumping right in and making a strong impact in the second half of the season.”
Amanatidis will wear the number 17 jersey at his new club and will be available for selection for Brisbane’s Round 17 clash against Western Sydney Wanderers next Friday at Suncorp Stadium.
