The Greek Community Cup 2025 had a thrilling conclusion as South Melbourne and Heidelberg United emerged victorious in two action-packed finals at Warner Reserve.
“Hellas” secured a remarkable 4-2 win over Port Melbourne Sharks in a tense back-and-forth encounter.
Both clubs fielded youthful squads in the contest, with South Melbourne the first to strike with a 33rd minute goal courtesy of Daniel Hudson.
Port Melbourne brought it level before the break through Phillip Markovski, making it 1-1 at half time, though “Hellas” would come out firing in the second period with two quick goals propelling the scoreline to 3-1 in their favour.
The Sharks kept themselves alive in the contest after finding their second goal, though South Melbourne would eventually restore the two-goal advantage via Thiery Papin’s excellent long-range strike into the top corner.

The Shield Final saw “Alexandros” collide with Bentleigh Greens once more after their earlier meeting in the group stage, which Heidelberg won 3-1.
The game was fiercely fought by both sides with “Megas” finding the breakthrough around halfway into the second half.
The Greens added drama to the contest as they scored a late equaliser right before full time, forcing the game to be decided by a penalty shootout.
The two teams put up a valiant effort with Heidelberg prevailing 7-6 to claim the Shield.
The Greek Community of Melbourne congratulated the participating clubs and the victors for helping make the Cup a success.
