Olympiacos has given their goal of winning the double a massive lift as they decimated AEK in the first leg of the Greek Cup semi-finals to all but confirm their spot in the final.

The Piraeus giants breezed past Enosi with a whopping 6-0 triumph at “Georgios Karaiskakis” Stadium on Thursday morning (AEDT) that has practically turned the second leg into a formality.

The hosts opened the scoring in the ninth minute after an own goal by defender Harold Moukoudi before doubling it ten minutes later through midfielder Andre Horta.

Olympiacos continued their rampage by finding a third in the 22nd minute via striker Roman Yaremchuk, and they picked up where they left off right after the break with an early second half goal by winger Luis Palma (47′).

Yaremchuk popped up once more in the 53rd minute to make it 5-0 before fellow striker Ayoub El Kaabi found the game’s last goal in the 78th minute.

The result is crushing for AEK with their Cup dream having gone up in flames before the second leg has even started, with Olympiacos now well and truly in the driver’s seat of winning both the league and the Cup this season.

OFI took the advantage in the other semi-final clash, beating Asteras Tripolis 0-1 away in their first leg to boost their dream of making their first Cup final since 1990.

The Cretans owed their win to a 24th minute strike from forward Taxiarchis Fountas, giving them the advantage heading into the second leg currently scheduled for 2 April.
