AEK is out for revenge in a massive, high-stakes derby clash with Olympiacos that could have a lasting impact on the fate of this season’s championship.

Enosi takes on the Piraeus giants at “Agia Sophia” Stadium on Monday morning (AEDT) in the headline game of the 25th and penultimate round of the Greek Super League’s regular season.

There are multiple compelling storylines heading into the clash between the league’s top two sides with the biggest one being AEK’s search for payback after a humiliating 6-0 loss midweek to the “red-whites” that has essentially ended their dream of winning the Cup.

The Double-headed eagle of the South will be furious with their performance and will no doubt be desperate to exact vengeance by winning the league encounter and leaping into first place.

The league leaders will obviously do everything in their power to avoid that, taking confidence in the knowledge that a victory would provide them a healthy points gap from all their fellow title challengers as we approach the play-offs.

Panathinaikos will be holding out hope that the game finishes as a draw or win to AEK so their slim title chances remain alive, though it will not matter unless they find a way to defeat Panetolikos at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday morning.

The Greens have had a turbulent run of form lately, losing two of their last three league games (including last week to bottom-placed Lamia), which they need to bring to an end immediately to have any chance of competing for the premiership.

PAOK is looking to protect their place in the top four when they host Asteras Tripolis at “Toumba” Stadium on Monday morning, with the Arcadians themselves able to seal a spot in the fifth-eighth range if they can win.

Aris is on the hunt for PAOK’s place, facing Volos away on Sunday morning in a must-win game to keep their top four hopes alive.

Panserraikos faces Kallithea in an interesting affair wherein the visitors have a chance to strengthen their late push for survival in the top division against a fellow side in the mix for relegation.

Lamia travels to Crete to play OFI as the Fthiotida side looks to build on last round’s shock win against Panathinaikos in a late bid to escape from the relegation zone.

Levadiakos battles Atromitos at home on Monday morning with the aim of securing their fourth straight win and potentially putting themselves in a position to sneak into the top eight heading into the last round next week.

The Peristeriotes will offer great defiance as they too seek to challenge for a top eight finish, with them standing a real chance of ascending into eighth this matchday if they manage to win and Panetolikos loses their game with the “Trifylli”.
