Young Taekwondo talent Nicole Striglogiannis is headed to Canberra for the Cadet World Championship Selection Event to compete for a spot at the 2025 World Taekwondo Cadet Championships.

The selection event is on Sunday March 9 at the Combat Centre, Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) where athletes will be determined to represent Australia at the world championships in Fujairah, UAE, from May 10 to May 14.

Nicole started Taekwondo five years ago and has won gold at the 2023 and 2024 National Championships and Global Martial Arts Spring Open 2024.

The 12-year-old also took home silver at the 2024 Sydney Taekwondo Festival.

Her mother Catherine told Neos Kosmos that winning the upcoming event would be “absolutely huge and it would mean a hell of a lot to her.”

“For me as a mum, whose been there from day one, I would just be blessed,” she said.

Taekwondo runs in the family, with Nicole’s two siblings also in the discipline.

Also competing for a spot on the Australian team is Lucas Mamonitis, who Neos Kosmos has reported on many times.

Lucas also trains at Royal Empire Martial Arts alongside Nicole.
