Victorian Council for Greek National Day has thanked the Greek community in Melbourne for supporting and attending the 2025 Greek National Day Parade on Sunday.

Over 1,500 people participated and more than 3,000 watched on as the parade celebrated 204 years of Greek independence.

“We are especially pleased to have seen so many members of our community participate in the Greek-Australian Commemorative Service at the Shrine of Remembrance, honouring the enduring friendship and alliance between Greece and Australia,” the council said in a media release.

“The return of the parade to the vicinity of the Shrine of Remembrance — our parade’s historical home — was met with great enthusiasm and a strong sense of tradition.”

The event featured Greek schools, cultural organisations, youth groups and community associations, all proudly showcasing Hellenic culture.

This reflects not only the significance of the occasion but also the strength and solidarity of the Greek-Australian community.

The Victorian Council for Greek National Day thanked the volunteers and executive committee for their work and said it looks forward to building on this year’s success and continuing to honour the tradition for generations to come.
