It wasn’t a happy weekend for the Greek Australian teams in the top leagues of Victorian State football. Let’s dig into how they fared.

State League 1 – North-West Group

None of our Greek Australian teams in the North-West group of State League 1 managed to taste victory this weekend.

Yarraville put up a fight away from home against Westgate, but ultimately couldn’t snatch the points, going down 3-2. Next up, Doxa faces Upfield.

Upfield hosted Westvale Olympic last weekend, and the Greek Australian side struggled to find their rhythm, leaving the pitch with a 3-1 loss. This week, Olympic hosts Banyule City.

Clifton Hill and Western Suburbs continued their runs with draws. The “Sky Blues” drew 2-2 with Keilor Park, while the clash between Panellinios and Banyule City ended goalless. Clifton Hill now hosts Ballarat City, and Suburbs host Keilor Park.

AEK fans are always next to their beloved football club.

State League 1 – South-East Group

Aris’s match was a complete disaster, suffering a 2-0 home defeat to Mornington. As we highlighted in previous weeks, Mornington traditionally causes headaches for the “Yellow and Blacks.” This result throws a spanner in the works for Aris’s season. This Saturday, they face Brandon Park away.

Malvern City also suffered an away loss, going down 1-0. The Greek Australian side couldn’t salvage anything from their match against Brandon Park. Now, the “Blues” prepare for a “Hellenic” derby against Bayside Argonauts next week. The Argonauts travel to Malvern after a restful week.

State League 2 – North-West Group

It was a fantastic weekend for Altona East Phoenix and Mill Park. PAOK hosted Strathmore on Friday night, putting on a show for the home crowd. They banged in three goals, played some beautiful football, and sent the fans home happy from Paisley Park. This week, the “Black and Whites” are on the road against Dallas.

It was a day of joy and optimism for Mill Park when they hosted Craigieburn City. The “Doves” reached new heights, scoring at will and completely dominating the match, winning 4-0. This Saturday, Mill Park hosts Strathmore.

The “yellow-blacks” were relentless throughout the ninety minutes.

State League 2 – South-East Group

Bentleigh United Cobras left Casey Comets’ patch with a point. The 1-1 draw left a bitter taste for the away side, who felt they could have snatched victory with a bit more focus in the final moments. This week, the “Cobras” are on the road again, this time against St Kilda.

Chisholm United suffered a heavy 5-0 away defeat to Knox City. The Oakleigh-based side couldn’t match Knox City’s intensity, who played as they pleased on their home turf. Next week, United hosts Skye United.

State League 3 – South-East Group

Waverley Wanderers staged an away party at the home of White Star. The “yellow-blacks” were relentless throughout the ninety minutes, as evidenced by the final score of 3-6. This week, A.E.K. will host Sandringham with the aim of securing a victory that will keep them at the top of the league standing

State League 4 – East Group

Olympiakos secured a big 2-1 away win against Monash City Villareal. The “Red and Whites” showed from the start they were hungry for victory, and they ultimately got their reward, thanks to their clinical finishing when it mattered. This week, East Kew travels to Docklands Athletic.

State League 4 – North Group

Apollo secured a crucial home victory. The Greek Australian side defeated Glenroy, one of the more quality teams in the division, with a 2-0 score line. This Saturday, Darebin United plays away at Heidelberg Stars.

Keon Park suffered a narrow 2-1 home defeat against Melbourne Uni. AEK couldn’t string together many positive moments on the pitch, resulting in a loss. This week, the “Yellow and Blacks” play at home against Watsonia Heights.

West Preston achieved a significant 3-1 away victory against Fawkner on Monday night. The “Greens” had a fantastic night, playing beautiful and effective football, returning to Preston with three golden points. This week, Antagoras hosts Mooney Valley Knights.

The White Star fans were disappointed by their clubs performance against AEK Waverley.
