The UTS Hellenic Society honoured its 45th anniversary in stylish fashion with over 250 guests engaging deeply in its celebratory ball filled with fun and entertainment.
The Sydney-based student society marked 45 years since its establishment at Dockside in the heart of Cockle Bay Wharf in Darling Harbour on Friday evening (4 April).
The ball represented the first milestone celebration for UTS Hellenic in ten years, with their 40th anniversary coinciding with the peak of the pandemic to make it impossible to honour in such a manner.
The evening featured a three-course meal along with plenty of dancing and live music.
UTS Hellenic President Basil Georgas thanked everyone who supported the event, including his committee, the venue’s staff, the guests in attendance as well as the numerous sponsors.
He noted that UTS Hellenic continues to serve an important role in giving voice to Greek Australian students 45 years on from its establishment.
“Although times have changed and society has changed, we, as people, have not…There are over 250 people and this just shows that our community is stronger than ever,” the UTS Hellenic President said in his speech.
The evening picked up in excitement with a surprise dance performance by the Aristotelian Academy of Greek Traditional Dance that delighted the attendees.
Following their performance, hundreds rushed to the dance floor to embrace the celebratory mood themselves.
The evening also featured raffle prizes towards the end of the event, and the fun continued as many of the guests moved on to the afterparty that carried on into the early hours of Saturday morning.
