The works of noted Greek artists are set to go on sale in a massive event put together by Bonhams in Paris and London and its associates in Athens, Art Expertise.
The 171-lot sale will include art from major names like Yiannis Moralis, Yannis Tsarouchis, Alecos Fassianos as well as numerous others.
Some of the works have an estimated value as high as €300,000-500,000, making the sale truly impressive.
“Moralis, Tsarouchis and Fassianos are some of Greece’s most beloved contemporary painters. These works are the best ambassadors for Greece’s contemporary culture,” Terpsichore Angelopoulou, Director of Art Expertise in Athens, said in a media release.
Some highlights of the full sale include Tsarouchis’ ‘Soldat dansant le zeibekiko’ (estimate: €300,000-500,000) and Moralis’ ‘Les orangers par’ (estimate: €100,000-150,000).

Fassianos, a student of Moralis at the Athens School of Fine Arts, also has a notable work as part of the sale, that being his painting ‘Rencοntre d’un été’ which is estimated at €50,000 – 70,000.
Angelopoulou noted that they will also showcase a number of impressive selection of paintings by female artists such as Opy Zouni, Sophia Vari and Marina Karella, which have estimated values between €10,000-20,000.
Other highlights of the 171-lot sale include:
Moralis’ ‘Grande érotique’ (estimate: €60,000-80,000).
Nikos Engonopoulos ‘Tragédie à Hérodion’ (estimate: €120,000-180,000).

Fotis Kontoglou’ ‘Guerriers des montagnes pendant la révolution Grecque de 1821, chahutés par la muse populaire’ (estimate: €50,000-70,000).
Georgios Bouzianis’ ‘Garçon assis avec un bras levé’ (estimate: €50,000-70,000).
Tsarouchis’ ‘Mavrokefalos Café’, (estimate: €70,000-100,000).
Selected highlights from the sale will be on preview in Athens at Amalias 36, Amalias Ave. 10558 from 5 to 8 May (11am to 8 pm).
The entire sale will be available to view at Bonhams Cornette de Saint Cyr, 6 Avenue Hoche on 17 May (12am to 6pm) and from 19 to 20 May (10am to 6pm).
