The Greek Community of Melbourne has put out a statement to its members regarding the delay for this year’s annual general meeting.
Neos Kosmos reached out to request explanation for the delay in the meeting and by extension, the elections of a new council.
The issue has been a subject of discussion among both members and the broader community.
Below is the statement from a representative of the Board of Directors.
“The Board of Directors of the Greek Community of Melbourne (GCM) acknowledges that there has been a delay in this year’s annual reporting.
The GCM has in recent years, held its meetings in the third quarter of the financial year.
This year, due to a number of administrative matters that in the main included a change in auditor and the need to respond to additional questions as a result of the change in auditor and administrative tasks set by the new auditor, the meeting will take place in the fourth quarter.
These delays, though understandable, are not usual and every effort will be made to prevent a recurrence.
The AGM date will be announced shortly. As per our company rules, an election will be called at that AGM, and the election date will be set by the relevant committee.
As always, members are welcome to table questions and evaluate the annual report, which will be made available in accordance with GCM’s rules. All reports are published on the GCM website and or sent to members and they remain accessible to all.”
Neos Kosmos will reach out with further questions for the board.
