TRADITIONAL GREEK DANCE WORKSHOPS
Learn dances from all parts of Greece with Andreas Papadopoulos, a senior dance teacher and performer from the renowned Dora Stratou Dance Theatre in Athens
You can participate in your choice of workshop or all- there are seven to choose from.
Each workshop will run for approximately 2.5hrs at various times from Friday April 25 to Sunday April 27, and they will all be held at The Kos Club of Victoria – 1 Bastings Street, Northcote 3070.

84TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF KALAMATA
The Society of Kalamata ’23 March’ host the commemoration of the 84th Anniversary of the Battle of Kalamata.
This commemoration service is in honour of those who fought and died in the defence of Greece
“Tell them we were here” was the call that went out across Kalamata, as the last embarkation boats rowed away, leaving eight thousand allies, Australians, New Zealanders, British, Indians, Cypriots, Palestinians (Muslims and Jews), Yugoslavs & Greeks, on the beaches of Kalamata to make their own way home.

ESTUDIANTINA OF MELBOURNE WITH SPECIAL GUEST ELSA MOURATIDOU
Estudiantina of Melbourne offer a special guest appearance from visiting singer, Elsa Mouratidou.
Immersed in the music of Greece, especially Smyrneika and Rebetika, the players joining her on stage will be Melbourne’s own Estudiantina of Melbourne with musicians Maria Antaras-Dalamagas on Accordion/Vocals, Vagelis Ginis on Vocals, Camille El Feghali on Qanun, Jenny Dixon on Violin, Alex Petropoulos on Guitar, Paul Karalis on Bouzouki and Con Kalamaras on Bouzouki/Vocals.
The ensemble joined by their special guest, will give a mesmerising fusion that breathes new life into this age-old genre.

SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM: MYTHOS, THE MYTHS OF ANCIENT GREECE
Explore the myths of Ancient Greece in this school holiday program with archaeologists and ancient historians from the Chau Chak Wing Museum as they take you on a journey through the collection of vases, statues and other works of art of Ancient Greece.
Throughout the workshops, you’ll be able to:
– Handle ancient Greek artefacts and discover how archaeologists learn about the past
– Hear ancient mythological stories of gods, goddess and heroes
– Make your own ferocious monster
– Help decorate an ancient Greek vase with your favourite mythological scene
– Explore the museum for ancient heroes, goddesses and gods
These activities are perfect for children aged six to 12. Parents/guardians are required to stay with children throughout the session.

GREEK AUSTRALIAN WRITERS’ FESTIVAL
Presented by the Greek Festival of Sydney and UTS Journalism and Writing.
Two new books will be launched at the festival, there will be contemporary new storytelling, photography books, retellings of Greek Mythology, memoir and psychology. The biggest festival yet with parallel sessions.
