Attica’s ports were bustling with activity on Holy Thursday as thousands of travellers began their Easter exodus to the Greek islands.
A total of 20 ferries departed from the port of Piraeus, carrying at least 22,190 passengers bound for the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, and Crete. Meanwhile, 10 ferries left from Rafina with around 9,800 passengers, and another 10 ferries sailed from Lavrio, transporting 2,843 travellers.
The holiday rush began the day prior, with 16 ferries departing Piraeus on Holy Wednesday, carrying 18,558 passengers. Rafina saw 11 ferries with 5,615 passengers, while six ferries from Lavrio transported 1,348 people.
Authorities confirmed that the Hellenic Coast Guard has implemented all necessary measures to ensure the safe and orderly departure of Easter holidaymakers.
