With Easter upon us, the State League teams will get a well-deserved break, with action resuming on Friday April 25.

State League 1 – North-West Group

The northwest group of State League 1 saw two “Greek” derbies steal the show. Doxa Yarraville triumphed over Panellinios with a solid 2-0 win. Next week, Yarraville heads to Ballarat to face City, while Western Suburbs hosts Westgate.

In the other “blue-and-white” showdown, Westvale Olympic edged out Clifton Hill 1-0. Next round, Hill welcomes Banyule City, and Olympic travels to take on Keilor Park.

State League 1 – South-East Group

Aris is on a roll and shows no signs of stopping. Their latest victim, Gippsland United, fell 4-0 to the “yellow-and-blacks” in a one-sided affair. This week, Aris faces Doveton away.

Malvern let another win slip through their fingers, drawing 0-0 with Collingwood City in a match full of intensity but lacking goals. Next up, they travel to Mazenod.

Bayside Argonauts also settled for a 2-2 draw against Brandon Park. They’ll look to bounce back this week against Old Scotch away.

State League 2 – North-West Group

It was a mixed bag for the Greek Australian teams in the northwest group of State League 2. Altona East’s PAOK scraped a 1-0 win over Whittlesea Ranges, while Mill Park fell 1-2 at home to Lalor United. This round, the “black-and-whites” face Albion Rovers away, and the “doves” take on Western Eagles.

State League 2 – South-East Group

Chisholm United dominated their “Greek” derby against Bentleigh United Cobras, running riot with a 7-2 victory at Victory Park. The Oakleigh side was unstoppable, leaving Cobras fans worried as their team sits second-last on the table. Next week, the “cobras” take on Peninsula Strikers, while Chisholm hosts Berwick City.

State League 3 – South-East Group

Waverley Wanderers’ AEK suffered a 3-2 away loss to Middle Park. The “yellow-and-blacks” fought hard but couldn’t catch a break. They’ll look to turn things around this week against Croydon City away.

State League 4 – East Group

It was a weekend to forget for East Kew, who were thrashed 2-6 at home by Albert Park in a humiliating display. The “red-and-whites” will aim to put this behind them when they face Ringwood City away this weekend.

State League 4 – North Group

West Preston secured a superb 2-0 away win against the tough Thornbury Athletic, bringing smiles to their loyal fans who made the trip. Next up, the “greens” host Melbourne University.

Darebin United fell 0-1 at home to Watsonia Heights in a lacklustre match. They’ll face Moonee Ponds United next.

On Monday night, Keon Park’s AEK struggled against Fawkner, losing 3-1 after failing to find their rhythm. The “double-headed eagle” will host Moreland United this round.
