Gerasimos Clonis’ new poetry collection ‘Behold the Man, Behold the Villain’ had a most successful launch event as hosted by the Hellenic Writers Association of Australia in Melbourne.
The event took place on Sunday (27 April) at the Cephalonian Society of Victoria – “O Kefalos” Inc., in West Melbourne, with the group’s President Evangelos Plokamakis coordinating the evening.

Professor Ioannis Milidis, a respected philologist, delivered an excellent literary analysis of the collection as the keynote speaker, highlighting its wit, social insight, and the human dimension embedded in Clonis’ poetry.
Notable speeches and greetings were given by Panagiotis Pallas, Vice President of the Cephalonian Society of Victoria, John Sachinidis, President of the Hellenic Writers Association, Angela Fifi, Secretary of the Greek-Australian Cultural League, Andrianna Karamitrou, author and poet, Thymios Charalambopoulos (whose message was read aloud).

Selected poems from the collection were read by Mrs. Evangelia Baxa, Special Secretary of the Hellenic Writers Association, as well as by the author’s children, Maria Kyriakopoulos and John Clonis, offering a warm and heartfelt tribute to the work and its creator.
The event was marked by genuine emotion, intellectual appreciation, and admiration for Clonis’ distinctive voice and enduring humour.
The Association extended its congratulations to Clonis for another remarkable literary contribution and wished him continued success.
