Greece’s Eurovision 2025 entry got off to a strong start with its first rehearsal on Monday, as Klavdia took to the stage at St Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, performing her song “Asteromata”.

The performance rehearsal showcased Klavdia’s powerful vocal performance and a visually striking staging, directed by acclaimed Creative Director Fokas Evangelinos. The performance centres around the theme of parting, offering a deeply emotional interpretation that met the expectations of the Greek delegation.

In a distinct departure from the version seen at the Greek national final, Klavdia begins the performance standing on a pier, slowly moving toward a rock — a symbolic journey through fire toward the Light. The presence of a second figure on stage, along with shifting stage elements, visually represents the song’s narrative of separation.

The outfit, designed by fashion duo Deux Hommes, blends traditional Greek elements with modern aesthetics.

Eurovision’s official Reddit coverage praised the rehearsal, highlighting the dramatic camera work, dynamic LED visuals featuring a burning tree, and impactful lighting.

Klavdia’s emotional delivery reportedly resonated even with viewers unfamiliar with the Greek language, a testament to the song’s universal appeal.

Greece’s second technical rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, May 8, ahead of Klavdia’s live performance in the second Eurovision Semi-Final next week.
