Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has sent a letter of congratulations to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese following his re-election in the recent federal elections.

In his message, Prime Minister Mitsotakis warmly commended Albanese on securing another term in office, reaffirming the strong and historic ties between Greece and Australia.

“The relationship between our two countries is deeply rooted in history and forged through common struggles to defend freedom and democracy,” Mitsotakis stated, highlighting their mutual commitment to peace, international cooperation, and the rule of law, including respect for the United Nations Charter and international maritime law as outlined in UNCLOS.

The Greek Prime Minister also acknowledged the enduring contribution of the Greek diaspora in Australia.

“I am proud to note that the vibrant Greek community in Australia has played and continues to play a vital role in further deepening this friendship,” he said.

Mitsotakis concluded by expressing his eagerness to continue working closely with Albanese to enhance bilateral cooperation and collaboration in multilateral fora, “for the benefit of our peoples and for the advancement of our shared values.”
