The 69th Eurovision Song Contest officially began on Sunday (local time) with the traditional Turquoise Carpet ceremony, held in the Swiss city of Basel.
Representing Greece, singer Klavdia made an appearance dressed in a gold gown by fashion designers Deux Hommes, with custom-made footwear by Maria Kotsona, Klavdia walked the carpet with a beaming smile.
She was joined by Christina Kaliakatsou, who will feature in Greece’s on-stage performance, wearing a satin ensemble by Rdioli, and by Konstantinos Pantzoglou, head of the Greek delegation.

This year’s Turquoise Carpet event was the longest in the competition’s history, stretching from Basel’s historic Rathaus (City Hall) to Messe Basel and the Eurovision Village.
Organisers aimed to involve the entire city in the festivities, transforming the opening ceremony into a vibrant cultural event.
All 37 participating delegations took part in the celebration, arriving in vintage trams and receiving a warm welcome from thousands of local residents and international fans. Once at the venue, artists posed for photographers and spoke with accredited press, officially launching Eurovision 2025’s competition week.
