‘Asteromata’ (Αστερομάτα), by Klavdia co-written with Arcade, will represent Greece in Eurovision 2025 and has already peaked at number three, earning platinum certification.
Inspired by the Pontian and Asia Minor refugee experience the song forms a symbolic dialogue between a mother and her missing child, conveying longing, hope, and resilience. The song incorporates elements of traditional Pontic, Asia Minor music, and dirges with contemporary beats. Greece is a contender, if not in the top five competitors below.
‘Shh’ by Cypriot singer Theo Evan will represent Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2025, marking the first time since 2017 that a Cyprus-born artist has competed for the country. From 2017 to 2024, all Cypriot entrants were from the diaspora, including two from Australia.
The favourites to win this year’s Eurovision Song Contest hosted by the Swiss city of Basel, the last 10 winners and the total number of wins per country, ahead of the 69th edition of the event.
Top five favourites -These five contenders are among the favourites to triumph at the St. Jakobshalle indoor arena:
SWEDEN: KAJ, “Bara bada bastu”- Dour-looking comedy trio Kevin, Axel and Jakob are the odds-on favourites with “Just have a sauna”, featuring a catchy chorus in an accordion-accompanied ode to the joy of saunas.
AUSTRIA: JJ, “Wasted Love”- Second-favourite JJ, Austrian-Filipino countertenor Johannes Pietsch, fuses pop and lyrical elements in a crescendo that flows into techno sounds, all on the theme of unrequited love.
FRANCE: Louane, “Maman”- Well-known in France, 28-year-old singer and actress Louane, whose real name is Anne Peichert, leads the chasing pack with a ballad addressed to her mother who died of cancer in 2014.
NETHERLANDS: Claude, “C’est la vie”- Claude Kiambe, 21, a child refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, performs a song in English and French, with lyrics evoking his mother and the resilience of his family.
ISRAEL: Yuval Raphael, “New Day Will Rise”- A survivor of Hamas’s October 7, 2023 deadly attack on Israel, Raphael’s power ballad, with lyrics in English, Hebrew and French, deals with survival after tragedy.

How to vote for Greece in Eurovision 2025
Supporters can vote for Greece from the countries participating in the Second Semi-Final on 15 May, as well as from the “Rest of the World” countries that are not competing in this year’s Eurovision.
Those eligible to vote can do so especially on Wednesday 14 May and Thursday 15 May.
Please note that the countries competing in the First Semi-Final do not have voting rights in the Second Semi-Final. Those include: Poland, Slovenia, Estonia, Spain, Ukraine, Sweden, Portugal, Norway, Belgium, Italy, Azerbaijan, San Marino, Albania, Netherlands, Switzerland, Croatia, Cyprus, Spain, Italy, and Switzerland.
