Port Melbourne Sharks have announced the appointment of Maxim Gaydovskiy as the new head coach of their senior men’s team, a move that promises to inject fresh energy and lofty ambitions into the club.

Maxim Gaydovskiy brings an impressive resume, having worked with top-tier clubs and competitions. Formerly part of the coaching staff at Zenit St Petersburg, Gaydovskiy contributed to eight consecutive UEFA Champions League and Europa League campaigns, gaining invaluable experience at the pinnacle of European football. His tenure at one of Russia’s most successful clubs allowed him to collaborate with elite players and coaches, shaping his philosophy for modern football.

More recently, Gaydovskiy has made his mark in Australia, serving as first assistant coach at Preston Lions, where he played a key role in the team’s development. He also took on the role of head coach for Heidelberg United’s U21 squad, showcasing his ability to guide young talent and build competitive teams. Gaydovskiy holds a UEFA A Licence from the Scottish Football Association, a credential that underscores his technical expertise and professional commitment.
