After another action-packed weekend, Melbourne’s Greek Australian football clubs delivered drama, goals, and heartbreak across the State Leagues. From nail-biting derbies to crushing defeats, here’s how the latest round unfolded.

State League 1 – North-West Group

It was another tough weekend for the Greek Australian teams in the North-West. Western Suburbs faced a winnable away clash against Corio, who sit 10th in the standings, but could only manage a 1-1 draw. The Panellinios faithful were left frustrated, settling for a single point. This week, Suburbs face a fiery “civil war” as they travel to take on Clifton Hill.

Clifton Hill endured a torrid time at home, crashing to a 0-3 defeat against Sydenham Park. The heavy loss left the club reeling, with morale at an all-time low.

Yarraville’s woes continued with a 1-2 home defeat to Brimbank Stallions. Doxa’s lack of individual quality cost them dearly, keeping them anchored in the second-last spot on the table.

Westvale Olympic also faltered, falling 2-0 at home to Westgate. The visitors failed to hit their stride, marking their fifth loss of the season. This weekend, Olympic host Sydenham Park in a bid to turn their fortunes around.

State League 1 – South-East Group

The big “blue-and-white” derby between Aris and Bayside Argonauts ended in a 1-1 stalemate. The draw left a bitter taste for the hosts, South Springvale, who are battling to stay atop the table. This week, the “yellow-and-blacks” welcome Malvern City for another clash brimming with Greek pride.

The Argonauts will face Collingwood City.

Malvern City couldn’t secure the three points against Doveton, settling for a 1-1 draw. The result kept them in the hunt but short of their ambitions.

State League 2 – North-West Group

Altona East Phoenix’s PAOK were unstoppable, storming to a 0-6 rout away at Craigieburn City. The “Double-Headed Eagle” left fans buzzing with pride. This week, they face another away test against Geelong Rangers.

Mill Park, however, fell 4-2 to Uni Hill Eagles. The “Pigeons” fought hard but ultimately bowed their heads in defeat. They’ll look to rebound at home against Albion Rovers this weekend.

State League 2 – South-East Group

Friday night in Oakleigh was a spectacle, as Chisholm United and Casey Comets played out a thrilling 3-3 draw. The match had it all—except a winner—leaving both sides with just a point. This week, United host St Kilda.

Bentleigh United Cobras slipped to a 1-2 home loss against North Caulfield. The “Cobras” looked sluggish, failing to capitalize on their chances. They travel to Doncaster Rovers next for a chance to regroup.

State League 3 – South-East Group

AEK Waverley continued their campaign with a 2-2 draw against Elwood. The “yellow-and-blacks” face a favourable matchup this week, traveling to face 10th-placed Rowville Eagles.

State League 4 – East Group

East Kew’s Olympiacos kept their momentum with a thrilling 3-2 home win over Knox United. The “red-and-whites” sent their fans into raptures with a three-goal spectacle. This weekend, they head to Mount Waverley City.

State League 4 – North Group

Keon Park threw a party at Darebin’s expense, thrashing them 0-4 to climb to second in the standings, just behind Watsonia Heights. This week, AEK host Glenroy Lions, while Apollon travel to face Moreland United.

West Preston enjoyed a perfect weekend, edging Heidelberg Stars 3-2 at home. The “Greens” now prepare for another home clash, this time against table-toppers Watsonia Heights.
