Former President of Heidelberg United Football Club Peter Tsaklis passed away after a long battle with illness.

Tsaklis served as the club’s president on two occasions.

His first stint was from 1986-1987 where he oversaw the construction of the clubs main grand stand. His second term was from 1991-1995.

His presidency was during an important juncture in the history of the club as it was fighting to stay in the NSL.

This culminated in an infamous rally at Olympic Village supported by thousands of fans and politicians after Soccer Australia expelled Heidelberg United from the competition after the conclusion of the 94/95 season.

“Our sincere condolences to Peter’s family at this time. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten,” the club said on social media.

“May you Rest in Peace Peter.”
