A major milestone has been achieved within La Trobe University’s Greek Studies program, as student Panagiotis Pantazis has been officially awarded his doctorate for a dissertation examining contemporary Turkish foreign policy.
Titled “Manifestations of Neo-Ottomanism and the Blue Homeland during the Era of the Justice and Development Party,” Dr Pantazis’ thesis offers an in-depth analysis of Turkey’s strategic posture under the leadership of the AKP (Justice and Development Party), exploring how ideological frameworks like Neo-Ottomanism and the “Blue Homeland” doctrine have shaped regional dynamics.
The research was jointly supervised by Dr Stavroula Nikoloudis, coordinator of the Greek Studies program, and Dr Dimitri Gonis.
“A successful PhD completion is extremely important for a university program,” said Dr Nikoloudis.
“The fresh research offers hope for the future and encourages other students to consider postgraduate studies, where they can explore in depth a subject of their choice while developing their research and critical thinking skills. We warmly congratulate Dr Pantazis and wish him the very best for the future.”
