A modern retelling of ancient Greek myths, focusing on the powerful goddesses of Olympus as they navigate their tumultuous relationships and personal struggles.

Through the voices of Hera, Helen of Troy and Medusa, Goddesses Unleashed explores themes of power, identity, and the struggle for autonomy in a patriarchal society.

The play offers a fresh perspective on these iconic figures, shedding light on their strength, vulnerability, and humanity.

Audiences will leave with a new appreciation for the maligned female figures of some of our greatest myths, and feel empowered to learn lessons from the past and step into a female future.

RAISING BILINGUAL CHILDREN IN MELBOURNE

Pharos Alliance will host its third annual parent seminar on Raising Bilingual Children.

Led by Professor Joseph Lo Bianco, President of Pharos Alliance and a leading expert in language education, the seminar aims to equip parents with practical strategies to foster the use of Greek at home. Through research-based insights and interactive activities, attendees will learn how to support their children’s bilingual development and help strengthen the intergenerational transmission of Modern Greek.

A PORTRAIT OF GREECE | AUSTRALIAN-GREEK COMPOSERS

A Portrait of Greece commences with the song Seikilos’ Epitaph. A beautiful melody from around 200BC, sung in classical Greek. Following this the concert moves into some classic Mikrasiatika songs.

The concert will feature “songs of migration” composed especially for the Choir by Australian-Greek composers that the Choir has commissioned. These songs will be sung as a world-wide premiere at this concert.

Part two of the concert moves through the ages to the modern Greek songs we all know and love. The Choir will perform a number of songs from various genres and from various cultural regions of Greece.

FESTIVAL HELLENIKA

Adelaide’s annual multi-disciplinary arts festival dedicated to the maintenance, development, promotion and celebration of Hellenic links in the Arts, and their rich and diverse Australian manifestations. From March to May.

The events in the next month include:

Meraki Music Workshops: Try some singing. Learn to sing and play beautiful Greek songs. Bring an instrument to jam. Dance to the rhythms (Until July).

The Mosaic workshop: Consists of creating a personal artwork piece, a presentation of the History of Mosaic art, emphasising the Hellenic influence. Participants will have free choice of design with the provided materials and at the end will be able to take the artwork home.

DANCE. Done Differently: Presentation on early 20th Century innovators in Modern Dance & the Greek Ideal, presented by Joanna Tsalikis.

The Timeless Homeric “Odyssey”: A free discussion on The Odyssey, presented by Chrysoula Melissinaki, Mphil (Master in Philosophy , University of Crete).

Hellenic Dreaming: Launch of the book “Hellenic Dreaming: Greek-Australian Stories” edited by Dr Helen Vatsikopoulos. Hear from her and two contributors: Kay Pavlou and Professor Martha Augoustinos. The launch will also include the announcement of the prize winners for the High School Student essay competition reflecting on growing up as third and fourth generation Greek Australians.
