Stefanos Tsitsipas is off to a flying start at the French Open with a straight-sets win over Argentine Tomás Martín Etcheverry 7-5, 6-3, 6-4.

After a close first set the Greek went up a level to close out the next two sets more comfortably.

Tsitsipas outperformed in all the major stats, with 12 aces to his opponent’s eight and going at a 77 per cent win rate on his first serve and 68 per cent on his second serve.

He also had 13 break points on Etcheverry, winning four of them, while the Argentine only had one break point from two opportunities.

The 20th seed will have a first ever meeting with Italy’s Matteo Gigante for his second round matchup at Roland Garros.
