The Hellenic Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (HACCI) National Federation recently held an event on Greek and Australian trade.
The event featured guest speakers Alison Duncan, Australian Ambassador to Greece and Stavros Venizelos, Greek Ambassador to Australia, providing an opportunity for businesses exploring bilateral trade opportunities to hear directly from both ambassadors.
There were 124 participants at the event on Tuesday May 27, and highlighted was the call for a direct flight between Australia and Greece, which is something HACCI have been calling for and both ambassadors supported.
“HACCI was proud to initiate the push for a direct flight between Australia and Greece — a vision that both Ambassadors reinforced as vital,” President Dr Elena Limnios said in a statement sent to Neos Kosmos.
“This air link will not only strengthen business ties, expand tourism, and connect our people like never before, but also open new frontiers of cultural and economic exchange between our two nations.
“Distance is no longer a barrier when collaboration is this strong. Our Federation brings together chambers, exporters, investors and governments to make business between our nations simpler and stronger.”
She further added that the event is a testament to the power of dialogue that can drive outcomes for trade and investment.
“At HACCI, we’re deeply committed to helping Greek and Australian businesses find the right partners, navigate new markets, and unlock their potential through trusted networks.”
Ambassador Duncan also provided a policy update revealing that Greek yoghurt has been cleared for export to Australia.
“To hear that Greek yogurt can now be exported to Australia is truly a breakthrough,” Lindos said.
