Greek Australian clubs delivered mixed results across Victoria’s State Leagues, with standout wins, tough losses, and high-stakes fixtures shaping the battle for promotion, survival, and bragging rights.

State League 1 – North-West Group

The weekend’s marquee clash in the North-West Group saw Yarraville Glory deliver a masterclass, thumping Westvale Olympic 4-0 in a one-sided derby. Yarraville were relentless from the first whistle, controlling the tempo and playing the ball on the pitch with flair. Their clinical finishing produced four cracking goals, leaving Olympic shell-shocked. The visitors ran out of steam early, failing to trouble Yarraville’s backline and slumping to a heavy defeat. The result sees Olympic slide to eighth in the table, just two points clear of bottom-placed Brimbank Stallions. Next up, Yarraville face a tough trip to Sydenham Park, while Olympic host Corio in a must-win fixture.

Western Suburbs pulled off a massive coup, clinching a 2-1 victory away at Sydenham Park. The Panellinios side passed their stern test with flying colours, filling their supporters with pride. The win keeps Suburbs in the hunt, and they’ll look to build on this when they welcome Ballarat City this weekend.

Clifton Hill also secured a vital 2-1 away win against Corio, with the Greek Australian outfit hitting top gear to bag three golden points. They’ll aim to keep the momentum going when they host Brimbank Stallions in Round 10.

State League 1 – South-East Group

Bayside Argonauts produced a stunning 2-1 upset against ladder-leaders Mornington, vaulting to fourth in the standings, just three points off the top. The Argonauts’ grit and quality shone through, and they’ll face another stern challenge when they host high-flying Hampton East Brighton this Friday.

Malvern City edged out Brandon Park 2-1 in a hard-fought contest, showing flashes of the form that made them a force last season. They’ll need to be at their best when they travel to face Gippsland United this weekend.

South Springvale’s Aris stumbled, falling 1-0 to Hampton East Brighton despite a gutsy effort. The loss leaves the “yellow-and-blacks” stuck in second with 16 points. They’ll look to bounce back when they host Mazenod on Saturday.

State League 2 – North-West Group

PAOK Altona East Phoenix claimed bragging rights in the top-of-the-table clash, edging out Lalor United 1-0 in a tense affair. The “black-and-whites” dug deep to secure the three points, climbing to first in the standings. They face a tricky away trip to Williamstown next.

Mill Park battled to a 1-1 draw away at Whittlesea Ranges, with star man Jancevski running the show and bagging the equaliser for the “pigeons.” They’ll look to go one better when they host Dallas City this weekend.

State League 2 – South-East Group

It was a tough weekend for the Greek Australian sides in the South-East Group. Chisholm United fell 1-0 away to North Caulfield, while Bentleigh United Cobras were stung 4-2 at home by Skye United. Chisholm face a challenging trip to Mooroolbark, and the Cobras take on Noble Park away in Round 10.

State League 3 – South-East Group

Waverley Wanderers continued their scintillating run, dispatching Heatherton United 1-0. The “yellow-and-blacks” proved too strong for their opponents, with their superior quality shining through. They’ll face a stern test away at Dandenong South this weekend.

State League 4 – East Group

East Kew’s Olympiacos fought valiantly but fell 2-0 to table-toppers Manningham Juventus. The “red-and-whites” gave it their all but couldn’t find a way through. They’ll look to regroup when they host Kings Domain on Saturday.

State League 4 – North Group

It was a cracking weekend for the Greek Australian sides in the North Group. Keon Park’s AEK stormed to a 2-1 win away at Moonee Valley Knights, keeping them hot on the heels of leaders Melbourne University. They’ll face West Preston in a “blue-and-white” derby this Friday.

West Preston head into that clash full of confidence after demolishing Glenroy Lions 7-0 away from home. Meanwhile, Apollon’s Darebin United played sublime football to secure a 3-0 victory at Thornbury Athletic. They’ll aim to keep the good times rolling when they host Fawkner on Saturday.
