A Literary Memorial honouring the life and legacy of the late Panagiotis (Peter) George Iasonides will be held at Alphington Grammar School on Friday, 11 July, at 6.30pm. The event, hosted by the Australian Institute of Macedonian Studies (AIMS), will take place in the school’s Lyceum Room and is open to the public.

Iasonides, a renowned advocate for Hellenism and the Pontian Greek diaspora both in Australia and abroad, is being commemorated for his enduring cultural, academic, and literary contributions.

The evening will include a 20-minute lecture by historian and AIMS Archival Convenor, Terry Stavridis, titled “The Pontian Deportation from the Black Sea (1921–1922)”, shedding light on one of the most harrowing chapters in Pontian Greek history.

Guests will also be welcomed by Dr Vivianne Nikou, Principal of Alphington Grammar School, while the President of AIMS will deliver the formal Eulogy.

As a tribute, free AIMS publications will be offered to all attendees.

The memorial will close with three live performances of Pontian music, celebrating the spirit and cultural heritage that Peter Iasonides championed throughout his life.

The organisers have warmly invited all friends, colleagues, and compatriots to attend and pay tribute, with guests encouraged to reflect on their personal connections with Iasonides and his lifelong commitment to preserving Hellenic memory and identity.
