AEK has announced their new coach in Marko Nikolic, who takes over the reins from Matias Almeyda and will strive to match his efforts in bringing trophies to the club.

The Serbian coach joins on a two-year deal until 2027 with his first major task being to guide Enosi to the League Phase of the Conference League, needing to advance through three qualifying rounds without any room for error.

Nikolic already has quite a bit of first team coaching experience at just 45 years old (soon to be 46 next month), having managed since 2008 with his first head coach job coming with Serbian side FK Rad.

He has since also managed Vojvodina, Partizan, Olimpija Ljubljana, Fehervar, Lokomotiv Moscow, Shadab Al Ahli and most recently CSKA Moscow.

The Serbian manager has a proven track record of success, winning both the league and the cup with Partizan and Fehervar, the Super Cup with Shadab Al Ahli as well as the Russian Cup with both Lokomotiv Moscow and CSKA Moscow (the latter of which came this past season).

AEK will be eager for Nikolic to add further honours after a successful tenure from Almeyda during which the club won the double in the 2022/23 season.

Enosi wished their new coach well in their official announcement, saying: “Marko Nikolic, the AEK family welcomes you. Good luck with our team!!!”
