Five popular Greek singers, including Glykeria, Alekos Zazopoulos, Vasiliki Danta, Kostas Karafotis, and Areti Ketime, have been stranded in Israel following the outbreak of a military operation in the region.
The artists had travelled to Israel for a series of concerts, some of which went ahead on Thursday night. However, only hours later, in the early hours of Friday, Israel launched a large-scale military operation codenamed “Rising Lion,” targeting Iranian nuclear and military installations.
As tensions escalated, Israel declared a state of emergency and all air traffic in and out of the country was suspended. This sudden halt in flights included the cancellation of the return journey for the Greek performers.
According to Greek TV broadcaster MEGA, the group was scheduled to leave Israel on Tuesday by bus bound for Cairo, Egypt, where they would then catch a flight back to Greece.
Despite the turmoil, radio producer Ionathan Iatrou, who resides in Israel, assured MEGA viewers that all the artists are safe and in good health.
The situation in Israel remains volatile, with international concern mounting over further escalation in the region.
