Construction has officially begun on The Landmark, Queensland’s largest mixed-use development, led by prominent Greek-Australian developer George Mastrocostas.
The $2.5 billion precinct, led by Aniko Group, will feature residential towers, a luxury hotel, wellness facilities, and a retail and hospitality promenade.
It was officially launched last week at a gathering at Aniko’s nearby sales gallery, with attendees including property industry figures, local leaders and project partners.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate joined Mastrocostas, who is also the Honorary Consul General for Greece in Queensland, at the ceremony to mark the start of works.
Mastrocostas, who founded Aniko Group after settling on the Gold Coast over two decades ago, said it’s an exciting new chapter for not just his company, but South East Queensland as a whole.
He told Neos Kosmos it’s an ambitious undertaking, but one that he believes will redefine luxury and liveability on the Gold Coast.

“As a proud Greek-Australian, it’s incredibly meaningful to lead a project like The Landmark—a development that reflects the values many of us grew up with: ambition, hard work, and a deep respect for community,” he said.
“This isn’t just about creating buildings; it’s about shaping a legacy on the Gold Coast that future generations will be proud of.
“To be able to do this as a local developer, with a team of local talent, is something I hold close to heart.”
The project will be built by Aniko’s in-house construction arm, Aniko Constructions, which was recently named among the country’s top 30 builders.
The development will generate local jobs and be supported by Queensland-based consultants and suppliers.

Mastrocostas would also love to see Greek businesses take up space at The Landmark.
“Our community has such a rich entrepreneurial spirit, and the precinct is designed to celebrate exactly that: culture, diversity, and local excellence,” he said.
“Whether it’s a boutique café, restaurant, or wellness brand, having Greek businesses as part of the retail and hospitality offering would add an authentic vibrancy to the precinct.
“It would also be a great way to honour the legacy of Hellenic enterprise here in Australia, particularly on the Gold Coast, which continues to grow as a hub for Mediterranean lifestyle and culture.”
The launch marks a major milestone for the privately owned Aniko Group, which has emerged as one of the state’s most active developer-builders in recent years.
Construction is now underway, with the precinct set to deliver a new commercial and residential hub to Mermaid Beach and the broader Gold Coast.
