St George College, Adelaide’s leading Greek Orthodox school, has entered a new chapter with the appointment of Guy Cassarchis as Principal. The educational leader has four decades of experience, Cassarchis brings a blend of academic vision, cultural pride, and community spirit to the role.
Speaking with Neos Kosmos, Cassarchis expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome he has received from the St George College community.
“The transition into my new role has been both exciting and rewarding.
“I have felt warmly welcomed by the community, and I’m enjoying getting to know the students, staff, and families,” he said.
Cassarchis holds a Master’s in Educational Leadership and Management and has dedicated his professional life to “student growth and wellbeing”. He has held roles as Headmaster, Principal K–12, Deputy Principal, and Director of Wellbeing and Sport, gaining a broad and holistic perspective on college leadership.
Cassarchis’ family hails from the islands of Tinos and Zagora. He was born in Geelong, Victoria, and raised on Sydney’s North Shore, growing up with “deep respect for faith, family, community and hard work”.
“As a leader, these values guide me in creating inclusive, respectful, and supportive environments,” he said.

Attracted to the role by the College’s sense of community and commitment to both academic excellence and Orthodox values, Cassarchis says his vision honours tradition while preparing students for the future.
“It is my responsibility to ensure Hellenic culture and Orthodox values are woven into college life—from Greek language learning to celebrating liturgy and Orthodox events. These are more than traditions; they are the foundation of identity and community,” he said.
Cassarchis has set ambitious priorities focused on student engagement, wellbeing, and innovation. Among his goals are expanding music and drama opportunities, further developing the college’s football academy—ideally in partnership with a Greek club—and building stronger connections between families and the College.
“I want our students to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe in tracking their growth not just in grades, but in wellbeing, confidence, and purpose,” he said.
Cassarchis is passionate about sport, service learning, and strong relationships. He believes these experiences build resilience, character, and compassion—qualities he seeks to cultivate across the St George College community.
“Education should empower students to become active, compassionate citizens. Through service, sport, and connection, we help them develop not just skills, but values,” he said.
“I want every student who walks through our gates to feel proud of where they come from, confident in who they are, and excited about where they’re going,” he said.
Under Cassarchis’s leadership, St George College looks poised to continue—honouring its Greek Orthodox foundations while preparing students for an ever-changing world.
