An 18-year-old from Volos in Greece, Enhui Pan, is among the top-performing candidates in this year’s Panhellenic university entrance exams, securing admission to the Athens top university.

Enhui Pan was born and raised in the capital of Magnesia by Chinese parents who had migrated to Greece for work, and she consistently stood out at her school for her academic achievements.

The goal of the Greek-Chinese student was to be admitted to a Greek university to study Mechanical Engineering — a goal she achieved with ease with a score of 19,080 out of 20,000 points.

As she told the Volos-based news outlet Gegonota, her entire school year went by without difficulties and she did not feel stressed about the Panhellenic exams. After all, in China, university entrance exams, Gaokao, are known to be even more demanding.

Enhui Pan is a graduate of the private Promitheas High School in Volos.

A significant number of young Chinese students are now in the Greek education system. In addition to the children of Chinese migrants from past decades, thousands of new Chinese property owners who received the so-called Golden Visa have now moved to Greece, bringing their children into the country’s school system — and in some cases, into its universities.
