More than 60,000 fans filled the “Wall of Nations” arena at Athens’ Olympic Stadium (OAKA) on Saturday night for what is being called one of the biggest concerts of the Greek summer. The sold-out show featured LEX, a leading figure in Greece’s hip-hop and rap scene—largely unknown in Australia but a cultural phenomenon back home.
Tickets sold out within hours of the concert’s announcement, confirming the Thessaloniki-born rapper’s widespread appeal. As smoke flares and fireworks lit up the night sky, LEX opened the performance by shouting “Athens, are you here?” before delivering a powerful set filled with fan-favourite tracks.
One of the night’s most memorable moments came when legendary singer Haroula Alexiou joined LEX on stage to perform “Fyge” (“Leave”), with thousands of voices singing along in unison.
The concert underscored LEX’s growing influence as a voice of a generation grappling with social and political realities, and marked a milestone for Greek hip-hop’s journey from the underground to the mainstream spotlight.
