The Royal Children’s Hospital Melbourne’s leading paediatric neurologist, Professor Andrew Kornberg, has taken to the Australian sky in a unique mission: raising money to help support children suffering from rare neurological disorders.
Professor Kornber, who served as Director of the Neurology Clinic for 15 years, is aiming to raise $4.5 million through his travels across Australia, with the funds to go towards creating a 16-bed specialist unit for children suffering from rare and complex neurological conditions. Over $1.25 million has been raised from Australian citizens.
The mission, entitled “Fly for the Kids”, aims to raise awareness of the needs of children with rare neurological disorders and provide advanced treatments through the creation of a specialist centre at the Royal Children’s Hospital.
The family of Kostas Sarristavros, known for its charitable work, actively supports the effort, strengthening the campaign and attracting public attention.
The initiative has already been covered by major media outlets, such as Channel 9 News and Channel 7’s Sunrise, highlighting the importance of the mission and encouraging public participation.
Professor Kornberg’s mission exemplifies dedication and innovation in pediatric care, emphasizing the significance of the community in supporting children with rare diseases.
More details about the action and this charitable mission are expected to be made public by Professor Kornberg himself, who has promised to attend a discussion with the President of the Greek Community of Melbourne, Bill Papastergiadis, and to give an interview to the Greek-Australian media.
