Popular Greek singer Nikos Kourkoulis is set to return to Australia this September for a highly anticipated concert tour, his first in nearly 10 years.
The chart-topping artist will perform in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, joining the growing list of Greek stars bringing live music to diaspora audiences in the coming months.
Kourkoulis, who was born in Kavala into a musically gifted family, began playing instruments like the guitar and bass from a young age, inspired by his bouzouki-playing grandmother.
His career took off in Thessaloniki’s live music venues before a move to Athens launched him onto the national stage.
He signed with BMG in the mid-1990s and released his debut album Kindinos in 1997, followed by Paizeis Me Tin Floga, which went platinum. The title track became a defining hit of his early career.
Despite facing a serious health setback that briefly paused his rise, Kourkoulis returned to the spotlight in 2004 and went on to release a string of successful albums. His duet “Lene Tosa Gia Mas” with singer Kelly Kelekidou, who later became his wife, was a standout moment in his discography.
The couple briefly relocated to Australia in 2014 before returning to Greece, where Kourkoulis continued to build his musical legacy. Known for his collaborations with artists like Natasa Theodoridou, Antzela Dimitriou, Antipas and Stamatis Gonidis, Kourkoulis remains a beloved figure in Greek music.
Audiences can look forward to hearing hits that have stood the test of time, with his songs still regularly played on Greek radio.
