The Greek Orthodox Community of New South Wales (GOCNSW) has farewelled long-serving General Manager Alkis Dracopoulos, who is retiring after 14 years of distinguished service to the organisation.
Dracopoulos has been central to the smooth running of the Community, overseeing multiple departments and supporting a wide range of programs and activities across the organisation. Colleagues describe him as an “important cog in the well–oiled machine” that keeps the Community’s cultural, educational and social services moving.
GOCNSW President Harry Danalis thanked Mr Dracopoulos for his loyalty and leadership over more than a decade.
“Mr Dracopoulos has been a loyal employee of the Greek Orthodox Community of NSW for well over a decade. During that time, he has shown a commitment to the organisation and love for the work of the Committee,” Danalis said.

Marking the transition, the Board has appointed Vicki Tomaras as the new General Manager. Tomaras is no stranger to the Community, having served in a variety of roles over the past 13 years, including work in the Hostel, as a teacher, and as Education Co–ordinator. Her deep familiarity with GOCNSW programs and people positions her to carry forward the organisation’s mission without interruption.
“Vicki has also served the Community in various roles over the last 13 years. She has worked in the Hostel, worked as a teacher and as the Education Co–ordinator, and has been a supporter of all the activities of the Community,” Danalis said.
“The Board believes she will continue to be a valued member of the Community in her new role as General Manager.”
On behalf of the President and the Board of Directors, GOCNSW extended its heartfelt thanks to Dracopoulos for his professionalism, dedication and years of service, and offered warm congratulations to Tomaras as she steps into the position.
