Oakleigh Grammar has ushered in Term 3 with a school assembly celebrating both fresh beginnings and notable accomplishments across its community.

In a statement, the school described the assembly as an opportunity to recognise “new beginnings and outstanding achievements”, with a particular focus on long-serving staff and high-achieving students.

Thirteen staff members were honoured for reaching significant service milestones, from five years through to an extraordinary 35 years.

Staff Service Recognition:

5 Years – Mrs Parkes, Mr Ryan, Mr Schuwalow, Mr Wu

10 Years – Mr Gridley

15 Years – Mrs Atherinos, Mr Damatopoulos

20 Years – Ms Camilleri, Ms Pavlidou

25 Years – Ms Papadakis, Mrs Tsalapataris, Mrs Tsiagalos

35 Years – Mrs Papageorgiou

“Their commitment reflects the strong culture and values that continue to shape the Oakleigh Grammar community,” the school’s statement said.

Student excellence was also in the spotlight, with new athletic records set during the 2025 Athletics Carnival, and academic honours awarded to students accepted into the prestigious Monash Scholars Program.

2025 Athletics Record Breakers:

Under 14 Boys (Track) – Michael Koursourakis: 12.7s

Open Boys 800m & 1500m – Bruce An: 2:09.42 and 4:26.42

Open Girls High Jump – Lena Logan: 1.40m

Year 10 students Issam Alaeddine, Irene Koutsovasilis, and Ilya Umarov were selected for the 2025 Monash Scholars Program — a competitive initiative that supports high-achieving secondary students through academic enrichment, leadership development, and preparation for university.
