A Greek Australian chauffeur known for driving celebrities such as radio host Kyle Sandilands has been seriously injured after a head-on collision with a luxury Rolls Royce allegedly driven by a drunk 23-year-old woman.

The crash occurred around 3.30am on Saturday, July 23, on New South Head Road in the affluent Sydney suburb of Rose Bay.

The chauffeur, 52-year-old George Plassaras, was behind the wheel of a Mercedes Benz when it was struck by a Tiffany blue Rolls Royce reportedly worth $1 million. Emergency crews had to cut Plassaras free from the wreckage. He was rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital with serious injuries to his neck, back, and legs.

Long-time Rose Bay resident Brian Kandakji told 9News, “In the 21 years I’ve been here, I’ve seen some terrible accidents, but this one is probably the worst one.”

Police allege that the driver of the Rolls Royce, LanLan Yang, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. She was unharmed and arrested after allegedly failing a roadside breath test. At Waverley Police Station, police said she refused to undergo further breath analysis.

Yang has been charged with causing bodily harm by misconduct, being in charge of a motor vehicle, and refusing or failing to submit to breath analysis. She was granted conditional bail and was seen leaving the station later that day.

Yang is scheduled to appear at the Downing Centre Local Court on August 15
