A nightclub on the Greek island of Zakynthos — or Zante, as it’s known among British tourists — has sparked national outrage after footage emerged of a so-called ‘chocolate-licking’ contest, in which participants appeared to simulate sex acts on stage.
The British Daily Mail reported on the video, which has gone viral on TikTok. The footage, captioned “just your average day in Zante,” shows four young men, two of them shirtless, standing against a wall while four young women kneel in front of them, appearing to simulate oral sex. Dozens of clubgoers cheer them on in the packed venue.
The scene, reportedly filmed last week, has been widely described on social media and in local Greek press as an “oral sex competition.” The video has triggered strong backlash, including an official complaint to the police.
According to Athens Voice, the Deputy Mayor for Tourism, Angeliki Avgoustinou, confirmed that the Zakynthos municipality has lodged a police complaint, demanding an investigation into the event and the nightclub’s role.

In response, the nightclub has denied any sexual activity took place, stating, “There was no oral sex. The game was about licking chocolate, in a context of humour and fun. It looks different in the video, but there was no sexual act.”
Despite the club’s defence, the footage has reignited public debate in Greece over the nature of tourism on the island.
“This behaviour caused disgust, violating human dignity and damaging the reputation of Zakynthos as a tourist destination,” wrote one Greek news outlet.
Another report stated, “The lack of immediate reaction from the authorities intensifies the dissatisfaction of residents and organisations, who are calling for measures to protect public order and the image of Zakynthos.”
On social media, one user commented: “Every year this happens… all the Brits and Italians show up, and it’s a total mess.”
On Tik Tok one British user was so disgusted he said he wanted to, “Presonally shut that sh-t down”‘
Zakynthos is one of Greece’s most popular party destinations, drawing thousands of young British tourists every summer — a trend that increasingly divides public opinion in the country.
