Canterbury Bankstown FC extended its unbeaten streak to four games after playing out a hard-fought 0-0 away draw against Rydalmere Lions.
The result marked the Berries’ third draw (and third clean sheet) in their past four outings, with the club moving to 31 points in 11th place on the Football NSW State League One ladder.
The Lions controlled proceedings in the early stages of the clash, though the visitors held strong with a resolute defensive display led by man of the match Lorenzo Mirashaj.
The first threatening chance of the game came in the 56th minute when an over the top ball by Berries captain Patrick Savor played through Zayn Moussa, whose tame effort got blocked by a desperate Ethan Thomas tackle.
Rydalmere responded in the final ten minutes of the clash with a strong chance of their own as Adil Toska produced a headed effort that tested Berries keeper Stefan Savicic, which the shot stopper was able to keep out.
The Berries nearly stole the points in injury time with a quick movement nearly allowing them to bag the winner, but some last-ditch blocks from Julian Salome and then Conor Kerr saved the Lions from conceding at the death.
Canterbury Bankstown will be put to the test again this coming weekend as they take on FNSW State League One leaders Uni NSW.
