Tragedy fell at two different northern Greece beaches as two male tourists suffered fatal medical conditions while in the water.

The two deaths were reported within hours of each other on Saturday (16 August) with the victims being a 48-year-old Romanian and a 65-year-old Hungarian.

The Romanian passed away at a beach in Perea, east of Thessaloniki, having apparently suffered a medical condition after diving into the water.

First aid was administered by other beachgoers, while paramedics continued resuscitation efforts while transporting to a local hospital, though he died while in emergency care.

The Hungarian also lost consciousness in the water at the Sarti beach in Halkidiki prefecture.

The 65-year-old was also transferred by ambulance to a nearby health centre, where his death was confirmed.
