The Beyond Borders Kastellorizo International Documentary Festival kicks off its milestone tenth edition this Sunday (24 August).

The Festival will showcase a myriad of documentaries from 24-31 August, with numerous events organised in line with it as well.

The film, ‘Johatsu-Into thin air’ by Andreas Hartmann and Arata Mori (Japan-Germany), opens the festival with a picture detailing the phenomenon of thousands who have disappeared in Japan without a trace.

Following the screening, artists Chrysi Papagiannouli (vocals), Nikos Plios (guitar, vocals), and Tasos Giannoussis (bouzouki, vocals, artistic supervision) will present a musical anthology in honour of the anniversary edition of Beyond Borders.

The show will include works from great Greek composers like Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Vasilis Tsitsanis, and many others.

The closing picture will be Thomas Marlier and Guillaume Leunel’s French film ‘Asteroid Hunters’, telling the story of the scientists who form a global network to locate, observe and study asteroids with the chief purpose of identifying those that have potentially destructive trajectories.

A closing concert will be delivered by Kostas Triantafyllidis titled ‘History’, performing a series of Greek songs that have left their mark in history.

In addition to the screenings (including numerous premieres and features), the festival will feature masterclasses, a co-production forum, documentary workshops, discussions, as wel as a whole list of other activities directed at young and old attendees.
