The full Melbourne program for the 30th Greek Film Festival has been announced.
Set to run from 14 to 26 October 2025, this year’s edition marks three decades of celebrating Greek cinema.
The festival features new contemporary features and looks back to some of the standout films throughout the years.
It also pays tribute to acclaimed Greek actor, screenwriter and film director Renos Haralambidis, whose performances and charismatic screen presence have made him one of the most recognisable and respected figures in modern Greek cinema.
“The 30th Greek Film Festival is not only a celebration of cinema, but a testament to the enduring cultural ties between Greece and Australia,” Greek Community of Melbourne Vice President and Greek Film Festival Committee Chair Leo Vlahaki said.
“This year’s program honours the past, embraces the present, and looks forward to the future of Greek storytelling. We celebrate filmmaking in Greece, by Greeks and about Greek stories and the festival reflects this perfectly.”
The 30th anniversary season will open with the historical drama Kapetan Mihalis, directed by Kostas Haralambous and based on the novel by Nikos Kazantzakis.
Full program details, film synopses, and ticket information are now available at the Melbourne – Greek Film Festival 2025 website.
