The two Double-headed eagles of Hellenic football have gotten off to a perfect start in the league after ensuring home victories over Panserraikos and Larissa.

Both AEK and PAOK recorded maximum points in their opening round fixtures for the 2025-26 Greek Super League season on Monday morning (AEST), with Enosi defeating their Serres-based opponents 2-0 at “Agia Sophia” Stadium.

The Athenian side struck twice in the opening period with veteran playmaker Petros Mantalos the first to score after converting a penalty in the 23rd minute.

The home outfit then made it two four minutes later after Zini, who had won the penalty, finished off a cross from James Penrice in what proved to be the final goal of the game.

PAOK had a slightly more difficult time in their home clash with Larissa, beating them 1-0 through a lone goal by Kiril Despodov in the 47th minute.

The winger put the Thessaloniki giants ahead with a lovely finish into the bottom right that confirmed the three points.

It was an important way for both AEK and PAOK to start their league campaigns, especially since they had both come off European trips just three days prior.

Olympiacos got their title defence off on the right foot after scoring twice in injury time to earn a 2-0 home win over Asteras Tripolis on Sunday morning.

The Piraeus giants struggled to break through the Arcadians until the 90+3rd minute when Yusuf Yazici unleashed a screamer of a long shot that sailed into the top right corner.

Chief marksman Ayoub El Kaabi then put the game to bed with a strike in the 90+7th minute to ensure a winning start to the season for the “red-whites”.

Aris came out on top in their battle with Volos, defeating the Magnesia side 2-0 at “Kleanthis Vikelidis” Stadium.

The hosts owed the victory to two strikes in the second half, the first from Pedro Alvaro in the 64th minute and the second via Fabiano three minutes later.

The result marks Aris’ first competitive win of the campaign after failing to beat Araz Naxcivan in the Conference League qualifiers.

Atromitos produced a solid performance away to Panetolikos, winning 0-2 to commence their season on a high note.

The Peristeriotes scored in each half with Brayan Palmezano opening the scoring in the 41st minute and Denzel Jubitana securing the victory in the 81st minute.

Levadiakos hosts Kifisia in the remaining fixture of the round on Tuesday morning, with the game representing the first chance for the newly promoted visitors to show they have what it takes to stay in the league.

Panathinaikos and OFI’s scheduled match was postponed upon request from the Greens so they can focus on the Europa League play-offs, meaning both teams will open their league account in round two.
