Callie Doukas was just minutes from home when a suspected stolen Ford Falcon struck her BMW. Police say the callous offenders fled, leaving her critically injured.

The 66-year-old was just minutes from her home in Pascoe Vale, when a Ford Falcon, police suspect was stolen, hit her BMW. She did nothing wrong. Callie is now fighting for life in the hospital after the hit-run crash which has left senior police fuming. She was left to die by a callous driver and their passenger, who are both still on the run.

Her husband, Bill Doukas, broke down in tears when speaking to 9News, saying, “When I see my wife… bad drivers.”

Callie was driving along Gaffney Street when the suspected stolen Ford, travelling at high speed, smashed into her, forcing her car to spin out of control before slamming into a fence.

A neighbour told 9News he heard a “massive bang, a massive bang” while playing “with the little ones” when the crash occurred.

The 66-year-old had to be extracted from the vehicle and rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. She underwent emergency surgery overnight.

When asked by the 9News reporter about his wife’s condition, Bill said: “In the moment very good, but not speaking, still sleeping.”

The driver of the Falcon was caught on CCTV running from the vehicle into nearby residential streets. Detective Acting Sergeant Leigh Miller told media it was “uncalled for to flee the scene of a crime and leave someone fighting for life.”

One of the offenders was later seen hiding behind a parked van, while police also found dumped number plates in a storm drain.

Det. Act. Sgt Miller sent a message to the suspects: “We have a fair idea of who the suspects are. If he wants to hand himself in, well, that’s great. If he doesn’t, we’ll find him.”
