Greek-Australian Dimitrios Kametopoulos, a Sydney resident and leading advocate for multicultural education, has been awarded the International Excellence Award by the Writers Capital International Foundation.

The annual award, one of the Foundation’s highest honours, recognises Kametopoulos’s outstanding contribution to Australian society through his lifelong commitment to multicultural education. His work has been credited with inspiring positive change and uplifting countless lives.

The award was formally presented at the Global Vision Summit 2025, held in Athens from June 30 to July 2–3 under the theme “The Element of Water – Jalam: The Drop of Life”. This year’s summit carried the title “Awarding Excellence Without Borders” and celebrated individuals and organisations making an impact across education, culture, science, humanitarian work and the arts.

Recognition for other Greek-Australians

In addition to Kametopoulos, fellow Greek-Australian Pantazis Houli was honoured for his cultural achievements. Originally from Perth and now based on Kastellorizo, Houli is a mathematician, puzzle designer, and founder of the island’s Puzzle Museum, which showcases puzzles distributed worldwide.

The Summit also recognised Australia’s Ambassador to Greece, Alison Duncan, for her role in strengthening ties between Greece and Australia. The award was accepted on her behalf by Deputy Ambassador Scully.
