Greece’s men’s basketball team is well on track to top their group after securing their third straight win at EuroBasket 2025, beating Georgia 94-53 in Limassol to put them on a strong path heading into the knockout rounds.
Greece defeated the Georgians comprehensively in the third matchday of the tournament, putting them in first in Group C with two matches remaining.
The Greeks outscored their opponents in every quarter with the scoreboard reading at the end of each period: 22-13, 46-29, 69-41, 94-53.
The key contributors were Giannis Antetokounmpo (27 pts), Dinos Mitoglou (17 pts) and Tyler Dorsey (14 pts) in terms of scoring, helping the “blue-whites” produce a dominant display in the clash.
Coach Vassilis Spanoulis was pleased with the performance while still stressing they can get better.
” We are on the right track, but we look at each game individually. We still have room for improvement, we have things to improve. We are interested in the results, but we want to prepare for our next battles,” he said post-game.
He added that they are getting to the level he
“We’re getting to the level I want, but we’re not there yet…I built the team based on my philosophy, so that it has creators, players who cut, and everyone plays defence. We have a lot of weapons and we can be dangerous.”
Greece’s next opponent is Bosnia and Herzegovina, who they will play on 2 September at 3pm local time, before they close out the group stage with a clash against Spain (currently their biggest threat for first place) a few days later.
The Greeks will aim for a strong finish to their excellent start to secure first place in their group and give them a comparatively easier path in the knockout rounds.
