Canterbury Bankstown closed their 2025 campaign with a well-earned, comeback draw against Newcastle Jets at their home of Jensen Park.

The Berries played out a 2-2 contest with the Jets on Saturday (30 August) in the 30th and final round of the 2025 Football NSW State League One competition, finishing their season in 12th place with 34 points.

The hosts looked in grave danger after conceding twice in the opening half hour, the first goal coming in the 12th minute via Janni Rafty and the second in the 28th minute through Luke Bennell.

The young Jets outfit posed a great challenge but the Berries soon wrestled back control of the match as they halved the deficit in the 39th minute, thanks to a goal from striker Jake McLeod.

The home side then brought it level in the 51st minute after substitute forward Demitrius Kigeya found the back of the net.

Both teams produced further chances to try nab all three points, but ultimately they were forced to settle for the draw.

The result marked the Berries’ 13th draw of the season, winning seven times and losing ten in their other 17 matches.
