The annual Greek Orthodox Community of NSW (GOC) Kids Taverna Night was held on last Friday 29 August at the Greek Community Club in Lakemba, with proceeds supporting the GOC Afternoon and Saturday Schools.
In a media release, the GOC said it was “a resounding success, bringing together families, friends, and community members for an unforgettable celebration of Greek culture”.

Students from kindergarten to high school performed traditional Greek dances under the instruction of Paroula Thurban.
The event program also included raffle draws and lucky door prizes while entertainment was provided by musician Thanassis Pylarinos.

“Guests praised the GOC for its ongoing efforts to give back to the community, noting how events like these strengthen bonds across generations while preserving and celebrating our heritage, language, and culture,” the organisation said.
“This success creates a ripple effect that inspires and enriches generations to come.”

The funds raised will contribute to maintaining the Greek Language Program for current and future generations.
